Airtightness ensures that only a small amount of gas flows between two door-separated zones with different air pressures.
This property is often combined with watertightness and wind resistance. Together these characteristics are called AWW (air-water-wind).
Where can airtight doors be used?
A fully airtight revolving door or sliding door is ideal for conditioned areas such as operating theatres, cleanrooms, cold stores and freezers.
In this way, the door optimally controls the air flows and saves energy.
In laboratories, the food sector and the pharmaceutical industry it is often necessary that the air from a laboratory cannot escape to the outside. Just think of laboratories where research into viruses or bacteria is carried out. A negative pressure is maintained in the lab, so that nothing can escape to the outside. Conversely, there are also labs where nothing is allowed into the lab from outside. In that case, an overpressure is created. In both cases, the doors must be airtight to allow as little air or gases as possible to escape between the different zones.
